                                                        Unloading Knee Brace

An Unloading brace is a special knee brace that is indicated for persons who have severe knee pain and/or damage due to Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis or accident injuries. These individuals usually have difficulty walking or standing due to severe knee pain.

An Unloading brace works by redistributing the weight in the knee joint in such a way that it relieves pain and provides improved mobility. 

Unloading braces come as either left or right leg specific - they are not interchangeable. Furthermore, unloading braces are specifically designed either for pain on the inner side of the knee (Medial unloading brace..see pic #4) or for pain on the outer side of the knee (Lateral unloading brace...see pic # 5). Medial and Lateral unloading braces are also not interchangeable. Therefore, when deciding to purchase an unloading brace, both the leg (left or right) as well as the side of the knee (Medial\inside or Lateral\outside) has to be considered.

                                                                                                   Locking Knee Brace

A locking knee brace is a type of knee brace that comes with fittings that control the degree of flexion (bend) or extension (straightening) of the knee joint. This restriction of the movement is necessary in some cases to prevent further injury and/or allow healing, as well as assist with pain management.
